Upcoming Events

Magic Island to Keʻehi Lagoon

A south shore cruise along Kaka’ako and Sand Island. Landing at the beach near the Marine Education Training Center in Ke’ehi Lagoon. This is a great paddle for novices to test out paddling on the open ocean.

Heʻeia to Coconut Island

An EZ Glider round-trip paddle around Coconut Island. Actual course will be set at the time of launch.

Easter Camp

We’ll celebrate Easter a week early this year with a weekend camp filled with activities. We reserved the small group campsite at Kualoa Regional Park so we’ll have lots of room for club members and their guests to pitch a tent.

Kualoa to Kahana Bay

Paddle from the Kualoa campground to Kahana Bay. Route may go inside or outside the reef depending on conditions.

Because of liability concerns, our paddles are for Hui and ACA members only. Non-members are however welcome to tag along as “guests” but they will be required to read and sign our Hui and ACA waivers, and pay a $10 ACA event membership fee, before they can go. The same is true for club members who are not ACA members. Guests can download the ACA adult waiver.

Stories

  • Kaʻena Point Leeward Coast
Kayaking from Mokulēʻia to Keawaʻula Bay around Kaʻena Point treats paddlers to vistas of a windswept mountain ridge, seabirds soaring above a protected coastal plain, waves crashing against a rocky shore and if you’re lucky sightings of large honu, a cruising pod of naiʻa, a curious ‘īlioholoikauaua (“Dog that runs in rough water”, Hawaiian monk seal) or, if you’re really lucky, a splashing koholā.
  • Gear Review – Outex & Pelican Phone Cases
Several of you asked me about my Outex phone case that has a big glass port for the camera. I’ve been using this case for a few months and in this review I’ll compare it with my previous case from Pelican.
  • Turtletown 2025
Several paddlers had perfect weather for their trek to Turtletown on the last day of the fishing tournament campout. Some were campers and others came in for the day. Jled, our resident teenager joined the fray to ace his very first solo paddle. Leader Eileen Helmstetter was upbeat and prepared. There is no finer sight than kayaks of many colors against the backdrop of beautiful Kaneohe bay!
  • Kapapa Island
What paddler hasn’t gazed longingly at the many small islands surrounding the major islands and thought, “I’d love to paddle there — that route needs a kayak on it!”?
