    He’eia Kea Pier to Kapapa

    Four intrepid paddlers set off from He’eia Kea Boat Harbor to the flat calm waters of Kaneohe Bay. Skimming across reefs, marine life and sandbar we entered the water mauka of Kapapa Island. Beth Leever played in the surf while Bert Wong went in to the beach. Meanwhile I paddled around Kapapa following Stan Dalbec’s frolics looking for rock gardening opportunities. The group returned to He’eia Kea Boat Harbor after a snorkel around a patch reef via Turtle Town. A very pleasant and carefree paddle was had by all!

    The Mokuauia island paddle was very nice. We had 11 kayaks including some new members. As the paddle leader I did my diligence and had everyone sign in on the paddle waiver. We launched from the beach at about 11 am. We landed on the Laie side of the island because the North Shore wrapping swell would have been challenging to get through to the nice lagoon on the Malaekahana side of the island.

    After landing we took a leisurely walk around the island. The waves were crashing against the outer point of the island which made for some beautiful photos. We also got to hear and see a migrating Kioea (bristle-thighed curlew.) It is a bird that passes through Hawaii. On completing the walk, some of the members enjoy a quick lunch before returning to shore.

    Lovely day to go out and paddle Lake Wilson. Thanks for leading the way Veep Bill Murphy…we had 11 boats join us this morning, no one pulled out a pole to catch fish but I had good luck snagging a Werner Skagit paddle that was left on shore with no boat in the vicinity and a hula hoop. And a good time was to be had by all.

    THANKS William Murphy for another successful paddle around Lake Wilson. 1st time for me. Nobody went fishing, just exploring 🙂

    Most interesting was seeing a $100,000 Bass boat. Saddest thing was a smallish cat drinking from the water 😢
