DESCRIPTION:One of the most challenging paddles on O‘ahu from the Makai Research Pier to Maunalua Bay. You’ll pass many scenic spots: the Makapu‘u Lighthouse\, the rugged Kaiwi Coast\, Sandy Beach\, Koko Crater\, the Halona Blowhole\, Hanauma Bay and China Walls\, but you may be too busy watching for big trade swells to appreciate the scenery. This is a LONG paddle and the only emergency bail-out is at Kapaliokamoa (Two Beer Beach) or maybe Koloko Cove. Not for the timid\, but there might be whales! Meet at the left of the pier at 8:00 with a carpool at 8:30. – 9.5 mi. \n\n\n\nPaddle Leader:\n\n\n\n\n\nLaunch Location:\n\n\n\nPark in the dirt lot to the left of the pier. DESCRIPTION:We’ll celebrate Easter a week early this year with a weekend camp filled with activities. We reserved the small group campsite at Kualoa Regional Park so we’ll have lots of room for club members and their guests to pitch a tent. You can camp from Friday and leave on Sunday after the potluck. \n\n\n\nCamping is for club members and their guests only. DESCRIPTION:We have a full day of kayaking activities for prospective members and their families. The activities begin at 9:00 am with an “Introduction to Kayaking” clinic that will teach paddling strokes\, proper PFD fitting\, basic safety and on-the-water capsize recovery. At 11:30 we’ll have our traditional kayak Easter egg hunt on the bay. Bring your kids (or borrow some) and create a memory they’ll never forget! If you bring kids make sure that each one has a properly sized PFD. (Walmart carries affordable children’s PFDs.) After the eggs are gathered we’ll enjoy a sumptuous BBQ potluck lunch. As we digest our feast we’ll give out egg hunt prizes followed by a used equipment auction\, including at least one kayak. This is a great opportunity for new paddlers to score some quality gear at a bargain. \n\n\n\nA limited number of loaner kayaks are available for this event. DESCRIPTION:A challenging paddle around the northern tip of O‘ahu. Can be windy and rough with open ocean swells. Cruise past the James Campbell Wildlife Refuge\, Turtle Bay and Kawela Bay. DESCRIPTION:A scenic paddle going past all the famous North Shore surf breaks. The first couple miles are the most challenging depending on the swell. We may have to go a distance offshore to pass Sunset Point and avoid breaking waves. After Sunset Beach the hazards are minimal. A little over half way we stop at Waimea Bay. Land just South of the Jumping Rock for a lunch break (pack your lunch in a dry bag). We have encountered spinner dolphin pods many times in the past. DESCRIPTION:This is a mellow paddle on the calm\, leeward coast. Going by World Famous Makaha surfing beach where there is also a turtle feeding station if anybody would like to take a dip and check out some honu. The mountains and valleys along here are gorgeous too. Hopefully it will be a light wind day on this shore which is usually sheltered from the wind. SUMMARY:Tracks Beach to Ko Olina and Back
DESCRIPTION:On this round trip paddle we’ll launch from Tracks Beach Park and cruise down to the plush Ko Olina Resort. The reef in front of Ko Olina and the Kahe Power Plant cooling water discharge pipe are great snorkeling spots. If the swell is small enough we can take a peek into one of the resort lagoons. We’ll turn around at the last lagoon. A small shore break at launch and landing is possible so you need to be comfortable going through the surf. SUMMARY:Introduction to Kayaking Clinic
DESCRIPTION:ACA-certified instruction of basic ocean kayaking skills. This clinic is highly recommended for all new and prospective members. Free for all club members\, $10 donation for non-members. Membership registration will be accepted for the clinic. Join online or download our club application and bring the completed form and dues to the clinic. \n\n\n\nPre-registration required. RSVP by noon Saturday\, 8/29\, to register. Leader reserves the right to cancel the class if insufficient registration. Meet at 8:00 AM at Duke Kahanamoku Beach. Parking is usually tight so come early so you can hunt for a spot. Bring kayak\, life jacket and other basic paddling gear. \n\n\n\nInstructors:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLaunch Location:\n\n\n\nThis is a mixed use parking lot so make sure you read the signs and are in a public parking spot.
